When do we say enough?
July 17, 2009
Dear Editor:
When will the American people say enough? We are losing our freedoms and no one is speaking out against the bills that are going through congress without any opposition. We have the Hate Crimes Bill which is an attack on free speech. We have the Health Care bill which is an attack upon our freedom of choice and the free market system. It is interesting that when President Obama was asked if he and his family would be enrolled in the program he refused to answer. When the same question was addressed to several congressmen they avoided the question by saying they would consider it.
The Defense of Marriage act is under attack and a justice is being considered for the Supreme Court who has done great damage in our state and had to have her decision reversed. The so called Stimulus program is going to have to be paid by generations to come. If we don’t do something to stop this run away government we will no longer have the America that we have known in the past.
What is the answer? I believe it is to be found in people of faith praying to the God who rules in the affairs of man and nations to be merciful to us and remove from leadership those who are doing great damage and bring us to complete dependence upon Him. We will not see changes through the political process alone. We have already seen the kind of changes that that brings. We need Divine intervention and it means that those of us who believe in the power of prayer must get together with those who are like-minded and pray.
Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Anthony L. Gibson,
