From The Pastors Corner

Friday June 8, 2007

Dear Editor:

Many individuals here in America including many of our leaders have forgotten that we are at war with Islamic Fascism and have been involved in this war since 1979 when the US Embassy was taken over in Iran.  Since then there have been numerous attacks that culminated with the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.  Our enemies are seeking to impose their religion and political system upon those of us in the West.

Shariah law is how radical Muslims live their lives. It is also what they seek to impose upon us or take our lives in the process.  Shariah law promotes polygamy, a special tax on Christians and Jews, allows for slavery to flourish and promotes the killing of those who refuse to convert.   Radical Islamists and Jihadists seek to impose their way of life and Shariah law upon our nation whose foundation is built upon Judeo-Christian values.

This war is not going to be won on the battle fields of the world with weapons of destruction, but in the churches of our country as we call out to God in humble repentance and repent of our sin and return to the clear teaching of Jesus and the Apostles.  The winds of change are beginning to blow and churches are beginning to gather to pray for peace.  It is commendable that Saint Luke’s Parish is hosting such a gathering on June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18, and December 9.  This will be an opportunity to gather with others who have a since desire for peace and reconciliation in our land and around the world.  It should be a time for us to continue to gather until we achieve a lasting peace that allows all men to worship according to the dictates of their own consciences and not according to Shariah law.

The world is looking for genuine Christianity and those of us who claim to be followers of Jesus should be the one’s to demonstrate it for them in the way that we conduct ourselves and the values that we promote in our country.  I hope that this desire will continue to spread and influence everyone in our country.

Respectfully Submitted,
