Dear Editor: It appears to me that Mr.
Harold Meyerson is among those who engage in name calling as a means of
attacking those who disagree with him.
Those who oppose same-sex marriage are not bigots or gay bashers or homophobic. We are those who take the Bible seriously
and believe that God and not man instituted marriage. Government has the right to regulate marriage
but it did not institute it. Even
those cultures that we might consider to be primitive recognize that marriage
is the union of a man and a woman. We
are considered to be a civilized culture and yet we are considering endorsing
practices that are destructive to the individual and to society. God chose a wife for Adam and she was
called Eve. He told them to be fruitful
and multiply and replenish |
the earth. and multiply and replenish the
earth. Same sex unions are not able
to procreate and this is one of the purposes of marriage. Disease and violence are two problems that
are more widespread among same sex couples than among those who are heterosexual.
I am glad that the Republican Party seems to be in line with the teaching of Scripture and with the desires of the American people. I would hope that the Democratic Party would wake up and realize that they are endorsing practices that are harmful to our country and will bring about our demise. “Righteousness exalteth a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs. 14:34 Anthony L.
